Bible verses for anger and being wronged

Being angry is not the same as being wrong. When somebody has hurt you, these verses are about what to do with that anger so it does not end up running you.

  1. “So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.”
    James 1:19-20
  2. “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret; it leads only to evildoing.”
    Psalm 37:8
  3. “Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honourable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.””
    Romans 12:17-19
  4. “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
    Proverbs 15:1
